Shelly Jigsaw privacy policy
Effective October 12, 2026
This policy explains what information the Shelly Jigsaw app for Android
(package com.ohanastudios.shellyjigsaw) uses, why, and the choices you have.
The app is made by Ohana Studios ("we", "us").
The short version
- You do not create an account, and we never ask for your name, email or photos.
- Your puzzle progress and settings are saved on your phone. If you use Google Play Games, a backup copy is kept in your own Google account so you can get it back on a new phone. We never receive your progress.
- We use Google Analytics for Firebase to count, in general, how the game is played, such as how many puzzles are started and finished. It never receives your name, email or photos.
- The game is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some device information to show and measure those ads, as described below.
Information stored on your phone
The app saves your puzzle progress, finished puzzles, stars and shells, Shelly's field notes, settings (such as sound and vibration), and simple counters that decide how often ads appear. This information is kept in the app's private storage on your device and is never sent to us. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes it from your phone.
Cloud save with Google Play Games
So you do not lose your progress when you change phones or reinstall the game, Shelly Jigsaw backs up your progress with Google Play Games. When the game starts, Google Play Games signs you in with your Google account. You can choose Not now on Google's sign-in message, and the game then keeps your progress on your phone only.
When you are signed in:
- A copy of your game progress (puzzle progress, finished puzzles, stars and shells, Shelly's field notes and game settings) is saved in a private game folder in your own Google account. Only Shelly Jigsaw can read it, and only for your account. It does not include your photos, contacts, or the ad counters.
- The game receives your Play Games player ID, a code for your Play Games profile, so it can make sure a backup is restored to the same account. It does not receive your email address, and we do not keep the ID anywhere except on your phone.
- When you install the game on a new phone, or reinstall it, your saved progress is restored. If both your phone and your backup have progress, the game asks which one to keep.
- Google Play Games itself collects some information, such as your Play Games profile and information to keep its service working, as described in the Play Games Services data disclosure and the Google Privacy Policy. This data is sent to Google over an encrypted connection, not to us.
Your choices. You can turn cloud saving off at any time with Settings > Cloud save > Turn off cloud syncing in the game. To delete your backup, see Delete your Shelly Jigsaw data.
How we measure the game
Shelly Jigsaw uses Google Analytics for Firebase, a Google service, to understand which puzzles people enjoy and to improve the game and its ads. The app sends Google a few game events: when a puzzle starts or is finished, its number of pieces and its mode (Adventure, Daily), the Adventure level, and when the Daily tab is opened.
Google Analytics also records basic app information, such as when the app was first opened, how long it is used, the app version, the phone model, the Android version, the country, and a random app-instance identifier. When ads are allowed it can use the advertising ID to measure which ads brought players to the game. We see these numbers only as totals and cannot tell who you are.
In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, your choice in the consent message shown at first launch also applies to this measurement. Google keeps event-level measurement data for 2 months, and then only totals remain. Learn more in how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Delete your Shelly Jigsaw data
Ohana Studios does not keep any of your Shelly Jigsaw data on its own servers, so you can delete everything yourself:
- Progress on your phone: uninstall Shelly Jigsaw, or open Android Settings > Apps > Shelly Jigsaw > Storage > Clear data. This deletes your puzzle progress, finished puzzles, stars and shells, field notes, settings and ad counters from the phone right away.
- Cloud backup: on a computer, open Google Drive, choose Settings > Manage apps, find Shelly Jigsaw, then choose Options > Delete hidden app data. This deletes the backup copy of your progress from your Google account. To stop new backups, first turn off Settings > Cloud save in the game, or uninstall it.
- Game measurement data: it is not linked to your name or Google account. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data resets the app-instance identifier, and Google deletes event-level data after 2 months. To ask us to delete the data for your installation sooner, email us.
- Google Play Games profile data: you can delete the Play Games data for this game, or your whole Play Games profile, in the Google Play Games app or in your Google Account.
What is kept: nothing is kept by Ohana Studios. Information collected by Google for ads, game measurement and Google Play Games is handled under Google's own retention policies; you can manage ad data at My Ad Center. If you need help, email us at hello@ohana-studios.me.
Ads from Google AdMob
Shelly Jigsaw shows three kinds of ads: a small banner below the puzzle while you play, an optional video you can choose to watch for an extra hint, and occasional full-screen ads between puzzles. Full-screen ads never interrupt a puzzle you are solving.
The ads are provided by Google AdMob. When the app requests or shows an ad, Google may collect and process:
- device identifiers, such as your device's advertising ID and app set ID;
- your IP address, which can indicate your approximate location;
- information about your device, such as model, operating system and language;
- how you interact with ads, such as views and taps;
- diagnostic information, such as ad loading errors.
Google uses this information to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, prevent fraud and, where you allow it, show more relevant ads. This information is sent to Google, not to us. We only see anonymous, combined reports (for example, how many ads were shown). Google's use of this information is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your choices about ads
- Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. If you are in these regions, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time with Privacy choices in the game's Settings.
- Advertising ID. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your phone's settings (usually Settings > Google > Ads or Settings > Privacy > Ads).
- Personalized ads in general. You can manage Google ad personalization at My Ad Center.
If you opt out of personalized ads, you will still see ads, but they will be less tailored.
Phone permissions
| Permission | Why the app uses it |
|---|---|
| Internet and network state | To load ads, to back up your progress with Google Play Games, and to send the game measurements described above. Puzzles are built into the app and do not need a connection. |
| Advertising ID | Used by Google AdMob, and by Google Analytics to measure ads, as described above. |
| Vibration | For the gentle buzz when pieces fit. You can turn it off in Settings. |
The app does not access your photos, contacts, camera, microphone or precise location.
Children
Shelly Jigsaw is made for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will help.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or state laws in the United States), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, or to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for targeted advertising. Because we do not hold personal information about you, most requests are best handled by the choices above or directly with Google, which holds your ad data and your cloud backup. We are happy to help with any request: just email us.
Security and retention
We do not run servers that store your game data. Your progress is kept on your phone and, if you use cloud saving, in your own Google account until you delete it as described above. Information collected by Google for ads, game measurement and Google Play Games is kept according to Google's own retention policies.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app uses information, we will update this page and its effective date. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app's store listing.
