Pili Words

Seven words. Three circles. One clever fit.

Join Pili the octopus and sort everyday words into three overlapping circles. Each word belongs in exactly one spot, and the overlaps are where it gets interesting.

Try Pili Words

Play the first chapter, Sunny Shallows: twelve levels, free, with no download or account. Start with a short guided tutorial. Tap a word, then tap the spot where it belongs, and press Check when you are ready.

Loads about 42 MB the first time.

Every word has its place

Pili means "to join" in Hawaiian, and that is the whole idea. A comet has a tail but no wings. An airplane has both. A paper plane has wings but no tail. Place all seven words, press Check, and correct words lock in.

Ninety-six levels across eight chapters, from Sunny Shallows to the Mangrove Maze, start with every category shown, then move on to mystery boards where one or two categories stay hidden until you solve. Each level unlocks when you solve the one before it, and stars on every level give you a reason to come back for a perfect score.

Made for the way you play

Think, then place

Each puzzle has three overlapping circles and seven everyday words. A word in an overlap must fit every circle it touches, so a bat sits where "Has a tail" meets "Can fly".

Clever, not tricky

Ninety-six puzzles draw on over 100 categories, from Has horns to Melts to Starts with B. No word gives its answer away, and every word comes with a short explanation.

Mystery circles

Once you know the ropes, some puzzles hide one or two categories. Work out what the words have in common, and the labels appear when you solve.

Stars and streaks

Earn up to three stars on each puzzle. Solve a level on consecutive days to build a streak, then share your result without spoilers.

Help when you want it

Five tries per puzzle, with correct words locking in green. A hint places one word for you without costing a try; it just caps that puzzle at two stars.

Questions about Pili Words

Can I play without downloading anything?

Yes. A free demo with the first chapter, twelve levels, runs right here in your browser with no account. The full game, with 96 levels, is in development for Android.

Does it need the internet?

The browser version needs a connection to load the first time. The Android version will play fully offline, need no account, and keep your stars and streak on your phone.

How do stars work?

Solve with no mistakes and no hints for three stars. One mistake or one hint earns two, and any other solve earns one. Replaying a puzzle keeps your best result.

What happens if I run out of tries?

You can try the puzzle again from the start or look at the solution, which explains why each word belongs where it does.
